Heaven needs babies too

Olivia Joy Benik, born on October 1, passed away on October 19 due to massive system failures.

The funeral services will be on Wednesday. If you would like information regarding arrangements, and where to send condolences, please email me (or Sara or Scott).

Manda is still fighting an infection as well. So this is an extremely trying time for the family.

I have not been able to talk to Manda or Tony. I am sure there is very deep grief, and perhaps they are wondering why. And of course, God alone knows why. But I do believe that little Olivia is in the hands of God now. And what a blessing for her to be in the arms of her creator.

Paul is heading to Chicago for the funeral, but the kids and I will not be able to go.

Eternal rest grant unto Olivia, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May Olivia's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

And I hope Manda's body heals from the infection soon.

Thank you to all of you who have prayed for our family. We are extremely grateful for the support.

As to asking why, that question is being answered every day. Our daughter brought so many people together through prayer it's been astounding. We have nearly $1,000 dollars in donations for the March of Dimes. The staff at the NICU were so touched by Olivia's life and our faith, that our family has been called an inspiration. While the grief is deep for the daughter who, in a normal situation, would still be growing in my womb, I am overcome by the amazing contribution her life has already made. The NICU social worker had this to say, "Some people work their whole lives to be remembered and make an impact, and Olivia did it in only 2 and a half weeks." What an amazing tribute to God and to life.

Thank you all,
-Manda.
